THE PEACE IN VENEZUELA WILL HAPPEN WITH THE RELEASE OF POLITICAL PRISIONER AND THE HOLDING OF GENERAL ELECTIONS
OUR OPINION
THE CRISIS IN VENEZUELA
In observance of its mission to defend democracy in our hemisphere, the Interamerican Institute for Democracy, cannot ignore the Venezuelan crisis characterized by the struggle of the citizens of that country to rescue their freedom through legitimate actions.
Hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, protected by their constitutional rights, have been demonstrating in the streets of major cities since the beginning of April, despite the violence unleashed by repressive forces, an attitude of the ruling party that endangers the safety of civilian Venezuelans, which has even affected children in hospitals making them flee the premises precipitately...
As a matter of fact, it is terribly unwise to increase the Bolivarian Militia to 500,000 civilians armed with rifles and war supplies, a group that has no other objective than the military confrontation against the Venezuelan people...
Finally, the purpose of this document is very clear: to demand the immediate release of Venezuelan political prisoners, the holding of general elections that put an end to this crisis, and return to society a climate of peaceful coexistence in which it is possible to restore normalcy Democracy.

DEMOCRACY

WILL NICOLÁS MADURO FALL?

By: Carlos Alberto Montaner

Maduro and Chavism will fall, not of their own weight but by the effort of their adversaries. The unequivocal symptoms are the thousands of young Venezuelans who are willing to confront the repressive forces. Venezuelans under the age of 25 know no other regime than the muddled Chavist blather. If they persist, they’ll end up victorious, as happened in Ukraine.

Totalitarian states have a critical gestation period. Revolutions cannot be made in slow motion and the Venezuelan madhouse was inaugurated in 1999, 18 years ago. The naive illusions raised at that time were gradually crushed under the weight of a nefarious managerial experience that — along with corruption, drug trafficking and idiocy — has destroyed the nation.
Time is a critical factor... But there’s not enough goons in Venezuela, and “the brave people” filling the boulevards and squares are proof of it. Maduro wants to arm a militia of one million paramilitaries. Why? Because he doesn’t trust the Armed Forces. He needs the militias in case someday some Army officers become tired of his incompetence... Starvation, due to the lack of dollars to import food, is right around the corner... The result is obvious: Venezuela will sink if Maduro remains entrenched in Miraflores Palace. All Venezuelans, even the Chavists, know that he has to go.

VENEZUELA, LAST TRENCH OF THE CASTROIST DICTATORIAL EMPIRE

By: Carlos Sánchez Berzaín

he extraordinary struggle of the Venezuelan people to regain their freedom could have already been successful had it been an internal struggle solely between Venezuelans. The problem is that they -almost alone- are facing the Castroist Dictatorial Empire that has turned Venezuela as its most important colony. The triumph of the Venezuelan people would make Cuba lose its regional hold and would force it to defend itself in its own territory, this is why Venezuela is the last trench of the Castroist Dictatorial Empire...
For the sake of their own security democratic countries and governments cannot afford to abandon the Venezuelan people.
